OMNI GYN PATHOLOGY PROGRAM

Simply Superior

Our GYN Pathology program is built to offer gynecology practices a superior alternative to what is currently offered by other laboratories.

As a physician-owned laboratory, we understand that offering excellent service is not just a slogan, it is a value to which we are committed and is reflected in everything that we do. We understand that it is unacceptable in this fast-paced clinical environment to take over seven days to report Pap smear results. So, we established a turn-around-time (TAT) standard of 24 hours for Pap smears and 48 hours to report Pap smears with molecular testing. This standard, by far, exceeds what most GYN practices are getting today.

  • We also understand that screening for cervical cancer is a complicated process and understand the current gap in testing. Therefore, we decided to be on the front of laboratories using cytogenetic testing to provide answers to questions that are not currently addressed. We are in the process of validating additional FISH testing to explore progression of Premaglignant conditions to cancer. A positive test will allow the physician to have a closer follow-up for patients who would traditionally not be followed up because of normal pap results.

  • Part of OmniPathology’s commitment to being a leader in GYN pathology is demonstrated in our comprehensive testing. As we continue to assess and add to our testing menu, we keep in mind the needs of GYN practices. In 2018, we added our bacterial vaginosis panel, a test that offers, with one swab, a panel of bacterial and candida organisms that are essential in the screening of gynecological diseases.

  • Our advanced diagnostic technologies complement our pathology program. Our skilled laboratory staff is trained to handle the most sensitive biopsy specimens and ensures proper processing. This enables our experienced fellowship-trained pathologists to render the most accurate diagnoses. Our team approach to diagnosing difficult cases provides clients with the benefit of collective opinion that results from our daily departmental review of challenging cases.
